ControlControl is everything. Self-control, that is. Control how you act, what you say, what goes into your body, and maybe — just maybe — you'll be able to control you are. Power is addictive; my drug of choice, but it comes at a cost. You see, what you don't learn until it's too late? Sooner or later, the need for control — controls you.
Generally, I’m a good kid. I pay attention in school, earning the high grades that decorate my report cards. I may not be especially popular, but I certainly have friends. I usually do as I’m told, don’t flagrantly disobey rules, and I try hard to please people. I retrace my steps in my mind, searching for the slip — the fall — that landed me here, on this cool, clammy table, wearing not much more than a requisite thin gown.
A crisp knock on the heavy wooden door to the exam room startles me, bringing my attention back to my predicament at hand. After

[7] unreadShe haunts the streets at night.
Sharp eyes scan the alleys, pierce the shadows, but she does not skirt the darkness. She welcomes its refuge. Her home away from home, here, the place where she ironically feels safest in this foreign world.
Street smarts aren't everything.
Nine days later, an envelope will be slipped into her casket at the viewing.

This is one happy and proud kid. The look on her face tells me that she's perfecting her piano lessons and that you don't even need to hear her through the picture, she's just THAT good.

Also the silliness with the hat is fantastic. It's a great way to teach kids lessons rather than putting so many rules/restrictions on their fun.

Her right hand (our left), cropped as it is, looks like her hand is a bit twisted uncomfortably. It might have been better to include her whole arm in the view. Usually poses of living creatures/people look better when limbs aren't cropped out. I know it can't be helped but the hat looks too flat in the front which somewhat cuts the image down vertically.

Other than that, this is definitely a photo and moment to be treasured. Also, Thing 2 is a silly and cool nickname.
